Warmington Almshouses Charitable Trust

About the Trust

Caring for Warmington’s almshouses and continuing a tradition of charitable housing established more than 160 years ago.

Our purpose

Warmington Almshouses Charitable Trust is responsible for the three almshouses in Church Lane, Warmington.

The Trust’s role is to ensure that the almshouses continue to provide suitable homes for beneficiaries, while maintaining the buildings and managing the charity responsibly for future generations.

1862

The charitable arrangements for the almshouses were formalised in a Trust.

More than 160 years of history

The almshouses were built around 1860–62 through the generosity of Lady Charlotte Proby, together with her sister Frances — known as Fanny. Their names remain part of the buildings today in the inscription above the doorways.

The Trust has evolved considerably since those early years, but its connection with Warmington and its purpose of providing homes remain at its heart.
